It is a pleasure to present The Legal 500 GC Powerlist: Italy 2026, recognising the outstanding in-house lawyers who are helping to shape the legal and business landscape across Italy.
The role of the general counsel continues to evolve at remarkable pace. Today’s leading in-house lawyers are expected not only to provide first-class legal advice, but also to understand the commercial priorities of their organisations, anticipate emerging risks and contribute directly to strategic decision-making. The individuals featured in this year’s publication demonstrate just how firmly the legal function has established itself at the heart of business leadership.
Our research for the 2026 edition reveals a profession navigating considerable change. Regulatory complexity, geopolitical uncertainty, technological innovation and shifting business priorities are placing new demands on legal departments. At the same time, the growing use of artificial intelligence and other digital tools is transforming the way legal teams work, creating opportunities for greater efficiency while raising important questions around governance, risk and responsible implementation.
What stands out among this year’s recognised counsel is their ability to respond to these challenges pragmatically and strategically. Whether leading significant transactions, managing complex disputes, overseeing regulatory matters, supporting organisational transformation or redesigning the operations of their own legal departments, these lawyers demonstrate the combination of technical expertise, commercial awareness and leadership that defines exceptional in-house counsel.
This year’s Powerlist also reflects the remarkable diversity of Italy’s corporate landscape. The lawyers included in this publication represent organisations across financial services, energy, technology, healthcare, consumer products, luxury, manufacturing, transport, infrastructure, media and many other areas of the economy. Their experiences differ, but a common thread runs through their contributions: an increasingly sophisticated understanding of how the legal function can create value rather than simply manage risk.
Just as importantly, the achievements recognised in these pages are rarely individual efforts. Many of the general counsel interviewed during our research spoke about the importance of developing talented teams, encouraging collaboration and creating legal functions capable of responding quickly to the changing needs of the business. Their leadership is therefore reflected not only in the matters they handle, but in the teams and cultures they build.
The GC Powerlist: Italy 2026 provides an opportunity to recognise these achievements and to share the experiences, perspectives and insights of some of Italy’s most distinguished in-house legal professionals.

Legal 500 returned to Luxembourg for the launch of the GC Powerlist: Luxembourg 2026, held in partnership with Loyens & Loeff. The reception brought together leading general counsel from across Luxembourg for an evening celebrating their achievements, leadership and influence within their organisations.
Frederic Franckx, Partner in the Corporate and M&A practice and Managing Partner of Loyens & Loeff Luxembourg, opened the event with welcoming remarks.
This was followed by a keynote speech by Ervin Zaljevic, Vice President and Head of Legal at BlackRock Luxembourg, who discussed the role of the GC and the future of legal leadership in Luxembourg.
