Career biography

With more than 20 years of experience in corporate law, M&A, antitrust, litigation, and corporate governance, Silvia Bertini is the Chief Legal Officer of De Nora Group, a global leader in sustainable electrochemical technologies, green hydrogen solutions, and water treatment technologies.

She began her legal career between Brussels and Milan with two leading international law firms, BonelliErede and Latham & Watkins, before gaining in-house experience in the energy sector with a UK multinational group. In 2012, she joined De Nora, where she established and developed the Group Legal Department, transforming it into a strategic business partner supporting the company’s global growth and helping the business navigate complex regulatory and governance challenges. Under her leadership, the legal function has evolved into a globally integrated team supporting De Nora’s operations and expansion across multiple jurisdictions.

Over the past decade, Silvia has led the legal strategy and execution of De Nora’s most significant transformational transactions, including the creation of the thyssenkrupp nucera joint venture, the acquisition and financing of Severn Trent’s Water Technologies business, Blackstone’s investment in De Nora and its subsequent exit in favour of Snam, De Nora’s successful IPO on Euronext Milan in 2022, and the acquisition of the BW Water Group in 2026. She has also played a key role in strategic initiatives supporting the development of Italy’s green hydrogen industry, including projects related to the country’s largest electrolyser manufacturing hub.

Beyond transactional work, Silvia is recognised for fostering a strong culture of legal risk management, compliance, and business partnering across the organisation. She has been acknowledged among Italy’s leading and most influential in-house counsel for promoting diversity, inclusion, and the advancement of women in the legal profession.

In addition to her executive responsibilities, Silvia serves as a member of the Supervisory Board of thyssenkrupp nucera and as a board member and corporate secretary of several companies within the De Nora Group.
