GC Powerlist: recognising in-house innovation, quality and excellence
In-house numbers have increased in recent years as companies look to harness more value from their legal departments and develop their own internal skillsets. Since 2013, The Legal 500 has been instrumental in recognising those in-house lawyers who are driving business forward.
The GC Powerlist is a series of publications, events and networking opportunities which highlight the most influential in-house lawyers and legal teams in business today.

Building on the research already carried out for The Legal 500, we speak to key partners at leading law firms and in-house counsel across the globe, to identify the most powerful corporate legal advisers. Individuals or teams will not be ranked in order of preference, or by quotas according to industry sectors. The final lists will simply highlight the best that the in-house market has to offer.
How can you be involved?
We invite law firm partners and in-house counsel to nominate in-house lawyers that have been instrumental in:
- changing or forming opinions within their company or industry
- have developed brilliant technical solutions to complex issues
- created innovative structures to ensure that the in-house function is driving the business forward
- provided a business working model that other corporate counsel should follow
Our team of experienced researchers will assess the nominations, and will speak to both general counsel and nominating-lawyer on the long-list to finalise each jurisdictional list. The final editorial will feature not just information on why that individual or team has made the list, but also comment from the law firms about how they feel individual in-house lawyers or in-house legal teams have helped shape innovation in the legal industry.
