Career Biography

Pietro is the Head of Legal, Regulatory and Compliance Affairs at Eni Plenitude S.p.A. Società Benefit, a company of Eni, one of the largest integrated energy companies in the world.
Before joining Eni, Pietro spent eighteen years with Saipem, which is one of the largest companies in Italy and the world’s leading and most international contractor in the oil and gas industry. In particular, the years 2002-2013 Pietro was the General Counsel of Saipem.
In these roles, Pietro has been in charge of Legal Departments with lawyers predominantly based in Milan, Rome, Paris, Bruxelles, London, UAE, Singapore and Houston.
Pietro has covered and been responsible for a wide cross-section of legal activity, including compliance, litigation/arbitration, contract negotiation, contract administration and the full range of corporate legal activities.

He has been very active in promoting Corporate Social Responsibility and ESG criteria in the legal world, particularly requesting that all law firms working with Plenitude commit to sustainability activities.
He has been a member of the UNIDROIT Working Group on International Long-Term Contracts and participated in the ICC, Commission on Arbitration, Working Group on the Role of In-house Counsel in Dispute Resolution.
Pietro lectures in International Business Contract Law both at Faculty of Law of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (in Milan, Italy), Master in Business Law of LUISS (in Rome, Italy) and is the director of several masterclasses held in Dhaka, Dubai and Istanbul.
