Career Biography

Benedetta Barlassina has built her career at the intersection of corporate law, M&A and the AIFM environment, combining private practice experience, as an attorney within the M&A/Corporate departments, managing complex domestic and cross-border transactions, with senior in-house General Counsel roles within structured corporate groups. This dual background has equipped her with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to legal matters and analytical skills, together with a genuine ability to align legal strategy with the wider objectives of the business.

Since October 2022, she has served as General Counsel of NatPower Group, a renewable energy developer, where she is responsible for the group legal affairs and works closely alongside the business. Her role includes overseeing corporate governance documentation, negotiating business contracts and project sale agreements, collaborating with the finance and technical departments throughout the project lifecycle, managing the compliance framework and providing legal support to the Luxembourg holding structure in connection with its growth and expansion into new markets.

She holds a law degree from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan and subsequently completed an Executive MBA at ESCP Business School in Paris, reinforcing her ability to combine legal expertise with a business-oriented perspective and a structured approach to strategic decision-making.

Benedetta began her career in the Corporate and M&A department of Chiomenti, where she spent nearly a decade there after early training experiences in Milan and London. She had built solid grounding in the full spectrum of transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs and complex commercial negotiations. During this period, she undertook a number of secondments across the infrastructure, luxury goods and payment services sectors, gaining direct exposure to in-house legal functions and a practical understanding of client priorities. She also spent time with Gide Loyrette Nouel in Paris, where she advised on cross-border transactions between France and Italy, developing significant expertise in managing multi-jurisdictional matters.

In 2018, Benedetta transitioned in-house, taking up the role of General Counsel of Praesidium SGR S.p.A., a private investment office active in private markets. In this role, she developed extensive experience within the AIFM environment, overseeing the incorporation and management of private equity thematic funds, including fund documentation, regulatory matters and marketing authorizations. She led a number of significant extraordinary transactions and directed the implementation of the group’s Luxembourg investment platform from inception. She also held a directorship of the Luxembourg entity, gaining substantial expertise in regulatory and compliance matters as well as first-hand governance experience at board level.

Benedetta’s career reflects a consistent trajectory of growing seniority, from leading law firms to senior in-house positions of increasing responsibility, underpinned throughout by a close engagement with the commercial and operational realities of the organizations she has served. Fluent in Italian, English and French, and currently developing her Spanish, she brings a genuinely cross-border and business-minded approach to legal practice.
