Career Biography
Juan Luis Delgado is currently the Chief Legal Officer and Secretary of the Board of Directors of PREMIUMFIBER, the largest FTTH operator in Spain, created to offer premium connectivity to MasOrange and Vodafone Spain. With continuous technological upgrades, the company represents a significant step in the evolution of the country’s digital infrastructure. Together with role referring the legal, regulation, compliance and corporate matters of PREMIUMFIBER, he is also in charge of Human Resources, ESG and communication.
Juan Luis has developed his career in the entrepreneurial and juridical fields having more than 30 years of seniority. During the last years before his current office, he has been the General Counsel and the Secretary of the Board, member of the Executive Committee and CLCO of several companies with a number of shareholders groups of different nationalities operating in a highly competitive and technological sector such telecommunications. Specialisation fields to mention are Commercial and Corporate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, IPOs, Telecommunications, Compliance and Business Law. He also has experience in managing internal audit and corporate security departments.
Before his current office, Juan Luis was the General Counsel of MASORANGE, the result of the merger between ORANGE España and MASMOVIL Group, the second and fourth telecommunications operators in Spain in 2024, and just before that, he was the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer of MASMOVIL Group including Legal, Compliance, Data Protection and Internal Audit responsibilities. MASMOVIL Group was the fourth telecommunication operator, having one of the fastest and amazing growing history of the telco industry, passing in only 10 years from being a small MVNO to be one of the most successful telco companies in Spain. During this period Juan Luis advised the Group in its organic and inorganic growth (including the acquisition of several companies, among them Xfera Móviles -Yoigo-, Pepemobile -Pepephone-, Llamaya, Lebara, Lyca and Euskaltel Group; leading the IPO for making public the company and afterwords being the object of an exclusion takeover bid launched by Providence, Cinven and KKR, and finally, being active part in the negotiation and antitrust process for the merger with Orange España, creating the current MASORANGE Group).
Previously, Juan Luis had different responsibilities in the Legal Department of ONO, the most important cable operator in Spain in the 2000s, where he joined in 1997, when this company was just a small start-up. Juan Luis started as corporate lawyer ending as General Counsel and Secretary of the Board until its sale to Vodafone. During this period, Juan Luis lived and was an active party of the liberalisation of the telecommunications in Spain, assisting and advising ONO in a number of M&A transactions, cable licences public bids, financings and business as usual legal advice. In his last period as General Counsel he was also in charge of the Internal Audit and Corporate Security Departments.
Juan Luis started as lawyer in Echarry&Brindle Abogados in 1994, has a Master in Business Law (LLM) by the I.E. Business School and a Degree in Law by the University of Salamanca, among other postgraduate programs in legal and business administration. In 2022 its Legal Department was awarded with the Aptissimi Award by ESADE Alumni for the Best Corporate Legal Department and in 2023 was finalist in the 1st Edition of the El Confidencial Business Advocacy Awards as Best Corporate Legal Department.
