Career Biography

Alejandro Arias is General Counsel, Head of Corporate Affairs and Board Member at Siemens Chile, where he leads the company’s legal, corporate governance and government affairs functions. He advises senior management and the board on complex commercial negotiations, strategic transactions, regulatory matters, disputes and risk management across highly regulated industries, including mining, energy, infrastructure and technology.

With more than 15 years of professional experience, Alejandro has developed a career at the intersection of law, business and public affairs, working in both the private and public sectors and supporting multinational organisations across Latin America and Europe. He is recognised for his ability to bridge legal, commercial and institutional perspectives, helping organisations navigate complex stakeholder environments and achieve strategic objectives while maintaining high standards of compliance and corporate governance.

At Siemens Chile, he is responsible for the company’s legal strategy and institutional relationships, overseeing major commercial contracts, corporate reorganisations, dispute resolution matters, government engagement and board governance. He regularly supports executive leadership in connection with investment decisions, business transformation initiatives and high-profile client negotiations. He also plays a key role in strengthening relationships with public authorities, industry associations and other strategic stakeholders.

Prior to joining Siemens, Alejandro served as Legal Counsel for the Americas at Energyst | CAT, where he managed legal matters related to energy infrastructure projects across the region. Earlier in his career, he worked in London as in-house counsel for Rurelec PLC, supporting the development and financing of energy projects in South America. He also served as adviser to Chile’s Ministry of Economy, contributing to public policy initiatives in renewable energy and infrastructure.

Alejandro holds a Bachelor of Laws and an LL.M. in Natural Resources Law & Policy from the University of Dundee (United Kingdom). He is currently pursuing an MBA at ESE Business School, Universidad de los Andes, further strengthening his expertise in strategy, leadership and general management.
