Yaroslav Teklyuk is a highly qualified Ukrainian lawyer, well experienced in numerous areas, including litigation, bankruptcy and restructuring, energy and tax laws. Previously, he worked at Vasil Kisil and Partners, where he was a partner for almost four years. Currently, he is employed by Naftogaz of Ukraine, which is the largest oil and gas monopoly in Ukraine. Within Naftogaz, he is responsible for legal matters and government relations.

Teklyuk is participating in the realisation of the project of unbundling of the gas transmission system operator from Naftogaz, a unique project that has never been previously carried out in Ukraine. His knowledge and experience is currently helping Naftogaz through this massive project, which includes corporate restructuring, preparation of transaction documentation, mitigating legal risks, arranging of relations with the future gas transmission system operator and communication with Ukrainian and EU regulators and other stakeholders.

Besides the unbundling, he also gained a major achievement by ensuring Naftogaz’s win in the arbitration proceedings against Gazprom. As a result, the arbitration rejected Gazprom’s claims for US$56bn and satisfied Naftogaz’s claims for US$4.63bn. This was a huge win for Naftogaz and for the Ukrainian economy altogether.

We believe that Teklyuk’s role in the protection of Naftogaz’s interests and reforming the Ukrainian gas market should be properly recognised.
