‘The North and West Africa legal department is a small team known to be business-oriented and with the ability to effectively balance business interests against mitigating potential legal risks while protecting the values of the department and the company’, as legal director Houda Soula succinctly puts. As well as union negotiations, legal monitoring of business acquisitions, participation in private and public initiatives and a number of memorandums of understanding that the team has been successful in enabling, Soula explains that a team culture has also been developed – an impressive achievement given the team has only been in existence for a relatively short time. In addition to herself, Soula mentions Mouna Chetoui as a key team performer over recent months: ‘She has been providing critical support to the internal clients, and was the key local contact for Regional leaders in implementing local projects. Throughout this period, Mouna has shown a high degree of integrity and proved herself to be very reliable’. Prior to Pfizer, Soula herself was area legal counsel for oil and gas company Weatherford, bringing this valuable experience to the Pfizer North and West Africa legal team’s ranks.
