Having a strong in-house legal team comprised of talented and well respected lawyers, Schindler promoted Petra Andrea Winkler to group general counsel in April 2019. Now under Winkler’s guidance, the legal department continues to support the company in maintaining its reputation as one of the world’s leading providers of elevators, escalators and moving walkways by advising on all the crucial company projects. The legal team has assisted in Schindler debuting its breakthrough system for elevators by helping form a research collaboration with the Council of Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in an aim to pave the way for greater automation and digitalisation in the elevator industry. The team also helped achieve a global partnership for the company with Telefónica for digital connectivity where the Spanish telecommunications company will be the IoT and network connectivity partner for Schindler’s digital offering for smart elevators and escalators.
