Schindler Group is renowned for its escalator, lift and moving walk solutions for urban projects (with, by its own estimates, one billion people per day travelling via its products), and the high volume of construction projects in the Middle East make it fertile ground for the Swiss-headquartered company. Schindler’s Middle East legal function is based in Dubai and headed by Yasser Abo Ismail, a well-regarded and high profile lawyer who has a keen interest in the development of the profession; as well as his professional responsibilities for Schindler, he teaches competition law to LLM students at the University of Dubai. Responsible for issues across MENA, his team also deals with a more diverse workload than one might expect.
