Beyond your corporate responsibilities, is there a cause, within the legal profession or in wider society, that you are particularly passionate about? How does this influence your leadership style as general counsel?

As General Counsel and Head of Corporate Affairs at Cubico, a key focus of my role and that of my team surrounds strategy, governance, risk management and long-term value creation. We are not a traditional legal function that operates in isolation; we are an integrated support function for the business, helping to shape and enable growth and sustainable performance across all our global markets.

We operate in several complex and highly regulated markets, with our projects often at the forefront of the energy transition in these countries. This means that our legal team plays a critical role in ensuring that our activities are not only commercially sound, but also resilient, responsible and aligned with the regulatory, ESG and stakeholder expectations. We work closely with our development, investment, finance and asset management teams from the earliest stages of a project – structuring investments, navigating permitting frameworks, and taking a leading role in the negotiation of key commercial agreements such as EPCs, O&Ms and PPAs, as well as in complex financings and joint ventures.

We have specialised legal teams in each country where we operate which allows us to understand the particularities of each regulatory framework and market dynamics, I lead a forward-looking legal function that can actively remove barriers to growth, accelerate delivery timelines and create value for the business weather through supporting our development business, managing disputes or negotiating complex M&A or project contracts.
