A veteran of projects, project finance and M&A in the US and Latin America, Vera Rechsteiner has also handled mandates involving energy and infrastructure projects in Africa and Asia. Her practice concentrates on the development, financing, acquisition and sale of energy, oil and gas, and infrastructure facilities and tax structuring for energy acquisitions and international project development. She has worked on energy, infrastructure, oil and gas and related projects in the US and throughout Latin America, Africa and Asia. Rechsteiner has also advised commercial and multilateral lenders on a variety of structured and corporate finance transactions in Latin America and the Caribbean. She has assisted governments in a number of Latin American countries with the privatisation of their energy industries and the restructuring of their energy regulatory frameworks. A native speaker of both English and Spanish, Rechsteiner has been serially profiled as a leading lawyer for Latin American and Mexican matters. Her recent Mexico-facing work includes representing the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IDB Invest), in its capacity as a lender and as agent acting on behalf of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), in a corporate secured financing for capacity expansion of an existing plant of Fitesa in Mexico. Rechsteiner has also assisted several Latin American countries with privatising their energy industries and restructuring their regulatory energy frameworks. Clients single her out for her ‘integrity, punctuality, knowledge, energy and availability’; she is regarded as ‘a most complete lawyer’.
