David Brinton has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 1994, specialising in corporate and securities law, with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions in the oil-and-gas and energy industries. Brinton has a wealth of Latin America experience, including in Mexico, and recently advised Actis on the establishment of a pan-Latin American renewable energy platform, Atlas Renewable Energy, and the acquisition of over 1,500MW of solar PV assets from SunEdison in Mexico, Chile and Uruguay. In 2014, he was part of the team advising private equity investor Actis on the establishment of Zuma Energy and on its first transaction in Latin America. Brinton regularly represents sellers, purchasers and other parties in negotiated cross-border and domestic mergers, acquisitions, reorganisations, joint ventures and investment transactions. He is experienced in public and private debt-and-equity offerings and has advised on a variety of financing transactions.
