His Mexico-facing matters include acting for Export Development Canada on an $80m loan to Grupo Petromex; advising the lenders on the $890m financing of the construction, development, operation and maintenance of the Los Ramones II Sur gas transportation system; assisting Grupo Carso and IDEAL on the $535m financing of Mexico’s Chihuahua-Sonora pipeline, and acting for Abengoa on the $200m bridge facility for the 778MW Norte III power plant project in Juárez. More recently, Padrés has been involved in significant Latin American matters including representing Orion Resource Partners (USA) and Blackstone Group’s Tactical Opportunities division on their $400m-450m debt and equity financing of Aurelian Ecuador’s Fruta del Norte gold and silver mine project. He also assisted a Dutch and a German lender with their financing of Pacific Solar Energy’s 50MW solar power plant near Nacaomé, Honduras. Padrés holds dual US and Mexican citizenship and is dual-qualified to practice in both jurisdictions. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the New York City Anti-Violence Project, and spent over four years as a volunteer counsellor for The Trevor Project, a lifeline for youths in crisis.
