Project-bonds expert Tomer Pinkusiewicz is a member of Gibson Dunn’s Capital Markets, Latin America and Energy and Infrastructure practice groups. He joined Gibson Dunn in 2012 and made an immediate impact by advising on some of the most significant, and challenging, project financings in Mexico that year. One example was the firm’s representation of a number of banks, as underwriters, in connection with the US$300m financing of the Oaxaca II and Oaxaca IV wind farms. These were the first Mexican renewables projects to be financed via the US capital markets and the first time wind-backed project bonds have been issued in Mexico. That same year, Pinkusiewicz also represented Red de Carreteras de Occidente (a special purpose vehicle used by Goldman Sachs and Empresas ICA to bid –successfully– for a $4.4bn private highway concession in Mexico), on the refinancing of its senior debt. The refinancing was one of the largest ever to be supported entirely by Mexican lenders and saw Pinkusiewicz draft the first ever peso-denominated, cross-border structured transaction of its kind. He has since helped a number of banks devise innovative financings for Mexican companies and represented the sponsors on important Mexican and Latin American infrastructure projects.
