Are there any particular challenges for which in-house counsel should be preparing in 2026?

With an election coming soon, there is a lot of “noise” that could affect our decision-making processes. Thus, it is very important to in-house counsels to be informed about candidates proposals and probable policies if they get to win the election. Anticipation is the best way to be prepared for any change in law and its consequences.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

Learn to see through the eyes of our internal clients. Our legal knowledge is not enough to help our businesses grow, so we have to learn about numbers and stockholders ultimate interests. On the other hand, we have to bear in mind that legal decisions need good communication processes. A good and lawful decision can still destroy a company´s reputation which is nowadays one of its most important assets.
