What has been the number one challenge that has impacted you over the past year?

The most difficult challenge in the last year has been the impact of the political situation, which, far from transmitting governability to the sectors and citizens, generates great anxiety and uncertainty due to the constant legislative changes that are being. Without a doubt the population, the economic sectors, and the country in general, from the legal perspective, must consider new obligations and conditions for contractual relations.

And it is here whereas a legal team, and as strategic partners to our clients, we must find alternatives to these changes that allow us to continue operating without contingencies for our benefits as well as our stakeholders’.

Looking forward, what technological advancements do you feel will impact the role of in-house legal teams in the future the most?

The intervention of technology in the legal area is, without a doubt, already a fact. So much so that we have seen that at the height of the pandemic, the legal fields quickly adapted to electronic signatures, digitalisation of documents, remote appearances and corporate meetings through various platforms. Therefore, we have no choice but to see technology as an ally, another tool that streamlines processes and allows for better communication.

What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?

I really like to know that I can contribute to the respect of workers’ rights by belonging to a formal company. In Peru, where unfortunately the political scenario is very unstable in legislative matters, often affecting the business sector, it is gratifying to know that by complying with the regulations that we remember and promote as a legal area, not only allows us to present ourselves as a great ally, but also to contribute to the recognition of labour rights that undoubtedly have an impact not only on workers, but also on the families behind them.
