What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past twelve months?
Over the past year, we have been involved in several significant projects. This includes Hafslund’s acquisition of Orkla’s part of Sarpefossen, which was a strategically important transaction. The project value is several billion Norwegian kroner (NOK).
We have also closely followed the development of carbon capture and storage at the waste-to-energy facility at Klemetsrud. This is a complex and forward-looking project, involving regulatory, contractual and commercial considerations across multiple stakeholders. The project value is approximately 10bn NOK.
More broadly, a key focus area has been securing the strong position that the legal function has today as a business partner, supporting value creation while maintaining robust risk management.
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into legal teams, and the pressure grows to ‘do more with less’, how can GC balance efficiency, quality and human judgement?
A key priority is to understand how AI can be used most effectively within the legal function. The main challenge is balancing efficiency gains with quality and sound legal judgement.
We focus on identifying use cases where AI can support standardisation, document handling and knowledge management, while ensuring that critical assessments remain firmly anchored in human expertise.
Equally important is building internal competence and awareness, so that the team can adopt these tools in a structured and responsible manner. We aim to be early adopters.
Are there any causes or initiatives you’re passionate about?
I am committed to values-driven leadership. We should demonstrate respect, honesty, accountability, integrity and care — both internally and in our interactions with external suppliers. There is, for example, little value in imposing short deadlines on suppliers unless they are strictly necessary.
I also believe that value creation should underpin everything we do internally. From a communication perspective, I find it important to have regular, open and constructive conversations, and to address issues early. No one should have to wonder whether I am satisfied or not.
I also value the combination of being highly competent and professional, while still allowing room for a light and informal atmosphere.
