What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past twelve months?
We successfully settled a major litigation case against European truck cartels.
Real estate matters are another key focus, including assistance in the sale of a large property in Kristiansand and support in the negotiations for a new head office in Oslo.
What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel?
I think the most important thing is to be able to combine strong legal judgment and skills with commercial understanding. Further, to be able to prioritise and manage risk pragmatically and have effective communication with the business. Adaptability, collaboration and the capacity to deliver clear advice are also key.
What key trends – and challenges – should in-house lawyers be monitoring over the next year?
Trends to look out for are increasing regulatory complexity, particularly in areas such as ESG, data protection and AI. And, of course, key challenges include managing risk in a more volatile environment.
