Career Biography

Kjersti Bergsåker-Aspøy is EVP Legal, Commercial and Compliance at Petoro AS, the state-owned company responsible for managing the Norwegian State’s Direct Financial Interest (SDFI) on the Norwegian continental shelf. She is a member of the executive management team, with overall responsibility for legal, commercial and compliance matters.

Bergsåker-Aspøy has more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and a broad background from senior in-house roles. Prior to joining Petoro, she served as Head of Legal and Compliance at DEA Norge and previously held the same role at GDF Suez/Engie. She has also worked as a lawyer within Statoil (now Equinor), including on major transactions and integration processes. Earlier in her career, she worked both as a lawyer and as a deputy judge.

Her expertise spans corporate and commercial law, compliance and ethics, M&A, and regulatory matters. She has played a central role in organisational change processes and governance development, and is recognised for her strong engagement with industry collaboration, including serving as Chair of the Legal Committee of Offshore Norge.
