Career Biography

Kari Amalie Pettersen is Acting Head of Legal at Handelsbanken Norway, where she leads a legal team of 14 professionals advising across a broad range of banking and financial legal and regulatory matters. She joined the bank in 2019 as Legal Counsel, later serving as Deputy Head of Legal, before stepping into her current role.

Her primary legal expertise is within credit law and related areas, covering both corporate and retail lending, including company law and financial regulatory issues. She has extensive experience from both in-house roles in the banking sector and private practice at a law firm, giving her a well-rounded commercial and advisory perspective.

She has a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach, working closely with the business to provide both strategic and hands-on legal advice. Under her leadership, the legal function aims to operate as a key business enabler, delivering actionable guidance that align with the bank’s corporate goal and overall strategy.
