Career Biography
Harald Blaauw specialises in transactions, corporate law, and complex contract law.
During his studies, Mr. Blaauw served as a research assistant at the University of Bergen, where he earned his Master of Laws (Master i rettsvitenskap) in 2007. After graduating, he clerked at the Supreme Court of Norway, and in 2009 he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) Summa Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. After passing the New York Bar Exam, he began practicing as a transactional attorney at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP in New York City. In parallel with his legal studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Blaauw completed a dedicated finance program at the university’s business school, Wharton. During his time in the United States, he also served pro bono as a certified mediator in numerous cases for the Philadelphia Municipal Court and the Philadelphia Arbitration Center. Following his return to Norway, Mr. Blaauw primarily practiced within the corporate transaction departments of the law firms Wiersholm and Schjødt, and has served as General Counsel for several major corporations. In 2017, he earned an MBA in finance from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), from which he also graduated as a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA). Additionally, Mr. Blaauw has studied international law at American University in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Blaauw brings nearly 20 years of experience as a transactional lawyer and executive General Counsel. He has advised on more than 100 transactions of varying scales and has published numerous articles on the subject. His practice focuses primarily on corporate and contract law advisory services, as well as mergers, acquisitions, divestments and transactional support across all market segments. He possesses specialised expertise in strategic corporate acquisitions, private equity, structured processes, dispute resolution and arbitration. A significant portion of his work is cross-border. Prior to his roles as General Counsel, he regularly advised both private and publicly listed companies on commercial contracts, as well as extensive development and restructuring projects. He also assists major Norwegian corporations with corporate governance and possesses extensive board experience, including serving as a board member for i.a. Helly Hansen AS.
