Ajith Madhaven joined Aster DM Healthcare in 2010 to become the company’s sole counsel, forming the company’s legal department in 2014 – no mean feat at a company that is the largest healthcare group headquartered in Dubai with more than 300 establishments under management. He led the company’s legal structuring for its first ever public listing in the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange, and also ‘participated in the design and implementation of a previously untested common law (DIFC) holding structure in the heavily-regulated GCC healthcare industry’. Alongside this, Madhaven lists just some of the other major projects he has overseen in recent years. ‘As well as acquiring mid-sized hospitals in Dubai and Oman, as well as a chain of optical stores across the UAE, we successfully concluded the acquisition of a group of clinics and pharmacies in the United Arab Emirates’, he says.
