The relatively lean team is led by the considerable talents of Madhavan – who is described in glowing terms by nominating sources as having ‘established the legal department from scratch before progressing to heading the entire department at GCC level – [Madhavan] has achieved notable success in a variety of areas over recent years’. Among other projects, the team has spearheaded the corporate restructure of the group, overseen a large volume of litigation management, ensured company compliance to an ever-growing set of regulatory requirements and independently concluded a multimillion dollar hospital management agreement with a leading hospital in Nigeria. Perhaps most impressively, Madhavan and the Aster DM legal team were heavily involved at the business end of the company’s IPO of February 2018. This process, described by analysts as the most complex healthcare restructuring and capital market deal in the MENA region, saw the company listing shares on the Bombay and Indian National stock exchanges and required a rigorous restructuring operation whereby an investment holding structure was created in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
