Ramiro Villarreal exemplifies the level of experience available to the top ranks of the company, having been employed by Cemex since 1987, initially as general counsel. In 1995 he added board secretarial responsibilities, with his current full title being executive vice president of legal and secretary of the board of directors; he is also a non-executive director of a number of other companies. Villarreal was employed by Grupo Financiero Banpais prior to joining Cemex, and was educated at the University of Wisconsin and The Autonomous University of Nuevo León.
