The legal department of the Irish international sales, marketing and support services group DCC ensures the smooth, from a legal perspective, operation of the company’s four distinct business divisions – DCC LPG, DCC Retail and Oil, DCC Technology and DCC Healthcare. The team – comprised of excellent professionals such as head of group legal and compliance Darragh Byrne and senior counsel legal and compliance Rhona O’Brien – has received praise from nominators for both its ‘out of the box thinking’ when it comes to internal organisation and seamless support of corporate transactions. Last year has been particularly busy for the team, as it provided fundamental legal support to the £219m sale of DCC’s Environmental division to Exponent and was involved in supporting the acquisition of Shell’s liquefied petroleum gas business in Hong Kong and Macau for £120m. The team’s leader Darragh Byrne is an established corporate legal counsel with a decade of experience of overseeing legal departments in-house.
