‘Head of legal and compliance at DCC, Darragh Byrne stands out for his dedication to the DCC group and pioneering work in the compliance field. Byrne joined DCC in April 2012 as head of compliance and in January 2016 his role expanded to cover management for legal as well as compliance. In 2017, he has overseen the company’s deals with Esso’s retail petrol station network in Norway and also DCC’s plans to announce the disposal of its environmental division. Byrne also led the agreement with Shell Gas (LPG) Holdings to acquire its liquefied petroleum gas business in Hong Kong and Macau based on an enterprise value of £120m. In 2018, DCC announced a number of acquisitions which were completed across all divisions, including the acquisitions of Retail West and Elite One Source, DCC’s first entry into the large US markets for LPG and for Health and Beauty Solutions. Prior to this role Byrne served as legal director for Tesco Ireland’.
