Amely Haußer leads the legal, insurance and compliance department of TUI Cruises, a 50/50 joint venture of TUI AG and Royal Caribbean Cruises, the second largest cruise company worldwide. Operating in the complex cruise business provides many challenges, given TUI Cruises operates its vessels in its own name, the business encompasses everything from ship building, travel, hotel and restaurants operations, marketing, flights purchasing and coordination of many more services on a global scale. Haußer has displayed a great deal of commitment and capability within the business, being able to deal with a large variety of legal areas in a high amount of jurisdictions in different contractual partners of B2B and B2C all over the world. Amongst her career achievements, Haußer worked on the delivery of the latest vessel (Mein Schiff 6) in May 2016. The commission of a vessel is a challenging project involving all company departments, it is here where Haußer has displayed a high level of cooperation by improving and encouraging communication lines between the technical, finance, design and marketing PR departments. Citing this cooperation as a crucial and necessary part of her daily job Haußer states: ‘This cooperation is what gives most satisfaction. A close exchange and commercial though precise approach to questions is therefore the characteristic that I feel being most important for a good-quality in-house counsel’.
