What are the key projects you have participated in over the past twelve months?

Over the past year, I have been involved in various company projects, most of which are focused on finding new revenue streams, given the reduced investment affecting traditional media and its migration to major digital platforms.

How has the role of the general counsel evolved, and what are the most important qualities of today’s in-house counsel?

In my opinion, today’s general counsel must be constantly involved with those responsible for the business, understanding day-to-day needs and participating in the search for legal and contractual options to achieve goals and obtain results. This requires ongoing training and the use of available technological tools.

How do you manage situations where legal advice and business objectives conflict?

Understanding that legal compliance must always take precedence, I always seek the legal and contractual tools and mechanisms that allow business initiatives to proceed. However, when this is not possible, I strive to explain the legal considerations and consequences as clearly as possible to those involved.

How can the general counsel contribute to promoting responsible governance and ethical decision-making throughout the organisation?

The first step is always leading by my own example, demonstrating ethical and responsible conduct as an executive and leader of legal management in every personal and professional activity. In addition, the main contribution is the ongoing willingness to support the company’s executives in their decision-making with clear and timely legal advice, emphasising responsibility in all areas, including the ethical dimension.
