Career Biography

Tatiana Munro is a senior legal executive with more than 25 years of experience spanning litigation, legal and tax advisory, corporate governance, compliance, risk management and the strategic leadership of legal functions across both private and state-owned organisations.

Her career began in criminal litigation, where she spent over a decade specialising in white-collar crime and insolvency-related matters. This experience provided a strong foundation in dispute resolution, crisis management, risk assessment and the handling of highly complex legal and business challenges.

Tatiana subsequently joined EY, advising domestic and international clients on legal and tax matters, including corporate restructurings, business transactions and regulatory issues. She later assumed the challenge of establishing and leading the internal legal function of EY Chile, playing a key role in strengthening the firm’s governance framework, compliance programme, ethics culture and legal risk management capabilities.

Between 2018 and 2022, she served as Corporate Legal Manager of Empresa Nacional del Petróleo (ENAP), Chile’s state-owned energy company. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing the company’s legal, corporate and litigation matters, supporting business operations across Chile and several international jurisdictions. Her tenure involved leading multidisciplinary teams and advising on complex regulatory, environmental, commercial, financing and reputational matters in one of the country’s most strategically significant industries.

In 2022, Tatiana returned to EY as general counsel for Chile and currently also serves as Latam Lead Counsel – Contracts. In addition to leading the legal function in Chile, she oversees regional initiatives focused on contractual governance, process standardisation, cross-border transactions and legal risk mitigation across multiple Latin American jurisdictions.

A distinguishing feature of Tatiana’s professional journey is the breadth of her experience. Few legal leaders have successfully combined private practice, litigation, client advisory work, public-sector leadership and regional in-house counsel responsibilities. This diversity has provided her with a unique perspective on how legal departments can create value, enable business growth and support organisations in navigating increasingly complex regulatory and stakeholder environments.

Throughout her career, she has championed a modern vision of the in-house legal function, positioning legal teams as strategic business partners and trusted advisors involved in key corporate decision-making. She has also been an active advocate for diversity, inclusion and the advancement of women in the legal profession, supporting initiatives aimed at leadership development, mentorship and the creation of opportunities for future generations of female professionals.

Tatiana’s leadership and professional achievements have been recognised by the legal community through multiple inclusions in The Legal 500 GC Powerlist, reflecting her strategic vision, business acumen and contribution to the evolution of the in-house legal profession.
