Career Biography
Francisca Vásquez is chief legal officer and ethics officer at ENGIE Energía Chile, where she leads the legal, compliance, corporate governance, and ethics functions, playing a central role in enabling the company’s large-scale energy transition.
With over 15 years of experience in corporate law, Francisca has developed a distinguished career advising on complex transactions, regulatory matters, and governance structures, particularly in the energy and infrastructure sectors. She is recognised for her ability to combine strong legal judgment with a strategic business perspective, positioning the legal function as a key driver of value and transformation.
At ENGIE, she has been instrumental in supporting the company’s decarbonisation strategy, including the phased exit from coal-fired generation and the development of renewable energy and storage projects. Her work involves navigating highly regulated environments, managing critical stakeholder relationships, and ensuring full compliance across asset transformation processes, from permitting and construction to decommissioning and reconversion.
In parallel, Francisca has strengthened ENGIE Chile’s governance and compliance framework, consolidating a robust crime prevention model and promoting a culture grounded in integrity, transparency, and ESG principles. She also plays a key role in managing regulatory and contentious matters, representing the company before authorities and safeguarding its long-term interests and reputation.
Before joining ENGIE, she worked in leading law firms and in-house roles, advising on M&A, financing, and complex commercial matters and in the Ministry of Interior of Chile as legislative counsel of the Minister. She holds an LL.M. from The University of Chicago and a diploma in Financing and Corporations from Universidad de los Andes (Chile).
