Career Biography

A graduate of Universidad Privada de Santa Cruz de la Sierra (UPSA), Ariane holds a postgraduate qualification in Corporate Law from Universidad NUR and a Master’s degree in Business Law from the University of Valencia, Spain.

She is part of the legal team at ITACAMBA CEMENTO S.A., one of Bolivia’s leading cement companies, where she provides legal advice on a range of corporate matters. Her experience includes participating in projects involving the incorporation of companies, capital increases and reductions, liquidations and closures, mergers and acquisitions, as well as providing legal support to the company’s subsidiaries on matters relating to sound corporate governance. Her strong corporate law background has enabled her to develop a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by businesses and to provide practical legal protection and guidance.

In the area of compliance, she has led the design and implementation of compliance programmes aligned with Bolivian legislation and international standards, with a particular focus on anti-corruption, the prevention of money laundering and the protection of competition. Her work extends beyond the development of policies, with a focus on fostering an organisational culture grounded in ethics, integrity and transparency. As a member of Women in Compliance Bolivia, she also contributes to the creation of spaces for professional exchange and development, supporting the growth and profile of compliance within Bolivia’s business community.

Based on your experiences in the past year, are there any trends in the legal or business world that you are keeping an eye on that you think other in-house lawyers should be mindful of?

Over the past year, one of the most relevant trends in the legal and business landscape, and one that I have been paying particular attention to, has been the strengthening of corporate compliance programmes as a strategic pillar of ITACAMBA’s business management.

Compliance is no longer simply a preventive or formal function. It has become a key pillar of sustainability, governance and risk management within organisations. As markets become increasingly regulated and subject to greater transparency requirements, companies are expected to implement comprehensive systems that not only ensure regulatory compliance, but also foster an organisational culture based on ethics, integrity and corporate responsibility.

Against this backdrop, the role of the in-house lawyer has evolved significantly. It is no longer limited to contract reviews or addressing legal contingencies, but increasingly involves active participation in overseeing compliance with local and international regulations, including areas such as anti-corruption, competition, data protection and sustainability.

Ultimately, I believe that in-house lawyers should act as strategic business partners, contributing not only to mitigating risks, but also to creating value, strengthening corporate reputation and ensuring business continuity in increasingly complex and uncertain environments.
