Founded in 2005, Pampa Energía is the largest integrated electricity company in Argentina, which through its subsidiaries is engaged in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity to more than 2.5 million customers. Led by highly rated Argentinian lawyer, Gerardo Paz, the legal team of the company is responsible for providing operational legal support across Argentina, as well providing key strategic advice on important deals. In 2016, Paz received praise for supporting the purchase of Petrobras Argentina by Pampa Energía for $1.2bn, enabling the company to widen its existing range of energy assets, including natural gas and oil rights. In addition, Paz has impressed with his ongoing advice to the company on various management levels. Prior to assuming his current role as director of legal and regulatory affairs, Paz worked in a less senior managerial role at the company and before that worked as legal affairs manager at Camuzzi Gas Pampeana. Paz started his legal career at Ente Nacional Regulador de la Electricidad.
