Being strategic for a general counsel means to be involved in the key projects/decisions and act as a real business partner, understanding business needs and proposing proactive solutions rather than highlighting risks or constraints.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

Ability to work under pressure managing multiple priorities, ability to motivate team, decision-making attitude, clarity on interpreting the role of business partner, knowledge of the company dynamics.

How can general counsel foster a corporate culture that supports ESG principles and compliance across all levels of the organisation?

Dissemination of a compliance culture while working in strict connection with ESG internal teams, if any, is a real challenge for spreading the knowledge at all levels.
