What are the most significant cases, projects, or transactions that you and your legal team have recently been involved in?

We were involved in the negotiation and signing of a transformational, major acquisition we signed in March 2026 for about €2.6bn, whereby Amplifon (subject to all regulatory clearances, currently still pending) undertook to purchase one of the main manufacturers of the hearing aids we sell (vertical integration). The deal is incredibly complex and is generating huge volumes of strategic work for the legal department.

How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

Mainly by staying agile in terms of personnel and relationships with providers/law firms. In addition, a core role is played by maintaining and nurturing relevant relationships with other departments and Amplifon peers to ensure that the legal department is always timely involved to ensure prompt responses when situations/circumstances change (which is often the case during these times of instability).

General counsel often speak of the need to be strategic to reach the pinnacle of the profession. What does being strategic mean to you?

Understanding the business needs and objectives, and trying our best to find creative solutions (and sometimes reasonable compromises) to enable such objectives.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

The current interim period of our transformational acquisition is proving unique for a variety of reasons, both legal-technical in nature but also economic, organisational and strategic.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel to possess?

Long-term vision, grounded in solid technical/legal skills and expertise. One (vision) cannot really live and prosper without the other (legal expertise), at least if one aims for the highest levels of the in-house profession.
