Career biography

Tilza Ares Gómez is an experienced legal executive with a strong background in corporate, administrative and public sector law. She currently serves as Legal Manager at Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Punta Catalina (EGEPC), where she advises on key legal matters relating to the company’s operations, including contracts, public procurement, corporate governance and regulatory matters within the energy sector.

She was also part of the multidisciplinary team involved in the institutional transformation of the Central Termoeléctrica Punta Catalina into EGEPC, contributing her legal and institutional expertise to a significant transition within the Dominican electricity sector.

Her career spans more than two decades and includes extensive experience in legal advisory, institutional governance and senior management. Prior to joining EGEPC, she held senior legal and management positions at the Consejo Nacional para la Niñez y la Adolescencia (CONANI), including Legal Counsel and General Manager, and served as Secretary of its National Board.

Tilza combines strong legal judgement with a practical and solution-oriented approach to complex organisational and regulatory matters. She holds a law degree and a Master’s degree in Corporate Business Law from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), as well as postgraduate studies in Administrative Sanctioning Law from the University of Valladolid, Spain. She has also completed the F.Red Business Governance Programme at Instituto OMG and undertaken additional professional training in the energy sector.
