It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the GC Powerlist: Dominican Republic 2026, celebrating the outstanding general counsel, chief legal officers and senior in-house lawyers shaping the country’s corporate and legal landscape.
The Dominican Republic continues to distinguish itself as one of the Caribbean and Latin America’s most dynamic economies. Against a backdrop of sustained investment, increasingly sophisticated commercial activity and an evolving regulatory environment, the role of the in-house lawyer has become more consequential than ever.
The individuals recognised in this edition demonstrate just how far that role has developed. Today’s leading general counsel are not simply called upon to interpret the law or manage legal risk. They sit at the heart of strategic decision-making, advising senior leadership on matters ranging from corporate governance and regulatory change to digital transformation, sustainability, complex transactions and reputational risk.
Our research for the GC Powerlist: Dominican Republic 2026 has highlighted a community of in-house professionals distinguished by its commercial judgement, adaptability and leadership. Whether guiding multinational organisations through the particularities of the Dominican market or supporting the continued growth and international ambitions of leading domestic businesses, these lawyers are making a tangible contribution to the organisations they serve.
Just as importantly, this edition reflects the strength and increasing sophistication of the Dominican Republic’s in-house legal community itself. The lawyers featured in these pages have built highly capable legal functions, developed talented teams and strengthened the position of the legal department as a genuine strategic partner to the business. Their achievements deserve recognition not only within the legal profession, but across the wider business community.
The GC Powerlist has always sought to recognise those in-house lawyers whose influence extends beyond technical legal excellence. Our aim is to highlight professionals who lead, innovate and help their organisations navigate uncertainty while identifying opportunities for sustainable growth. The 2026 Dominican Republic Powerlist provides compelling examples of precisely that calibre of leadership.
On behalf of The Legal 500, I would like to congratulate every individual recognised in this year’s publication. I would also like to thank all those who contributed to our research and shared their experiences and perspectives with us. Your insights have helped us present a vivid picture of an in-house community that continues to grow in stature and influence.
We are delighted to celebrate your achievements and look forward to following the continued development of the Dominican Republic’s exceptional in-house legal community.

The Legal 500
On 3 September, after the success of the Kenya launch, Legal 500 hosted the second official launch event for the GC Powerlist: East Africa 2026, in partnership with ENS. Held at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, the evening brought together many of the region’s leading in-house lawyers, with a particular focus on celebrating the strength and contribution of Uganda’s legal community.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks from Giulio Tomassi Galanti, Business Development Manager at Legal 500, who highlighted the dynamic growth and increasing sophistication of the East African legal market. He also reflected on the rigorous research and selection process behind the GC Powerlist series, congratulating this year’s honourees for their outstanding contributions to both the legal profession and the organisations they serve.
Giulio was followed by Rachel Musoke, Head of ENS Uganda, who addressed the audience and applauded the exceptional achievements of those recognised in the 2026 edition.
Following the formal certificate presentation ceremony, Candy Wekesa Okoboi, Head of Legal at Stanbic Bank Uganda, was invited to speak on behalf of the honourees. She reflected on the significance of being recognised by the publication and emphasised the importance of bringing together East Africa’s in-house legal community to celebrate shared achievements, strengthen professional connections, and support the continued development of the profession across the region.
The Kampala launch of the GC Powerlist: East Africa 2026 proved a fitting celebration of the region’s outstanding in-house legal talent. The evening showcased the depth of expertise, leadership, and innovation present across East Africa’s corporate counsel community, while reaffirming Legal 500’s commitment to recognising and championing its achievements. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s research process, and to ENS for once again partnering with Legal 500 to provide a platform that honours these exceptional legal professionals.
