What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past 12 months?

Over the past 12 months, I have been involved in a number of strategically important projects supporting Siemens’ activities in Norway. My role has primarily focused on legal risk management, contract structuring, and negotiations in complex commercial and public sector related matters.

In parallel, I have supported the company’s ongoing operations, advising management and business teams on commercial contracts, governance, and compliance issues.

What do you think are the most important attributes for a modern in-house counsel?

What distinguishes in-house counsel from external lawyers is our in-depth understanding of the business we support. This perspective enables us to act not only as legal advisors, but also as strategic business partners and trusted advisors who contribute directly to value creation.

Genuine curiosity and an active interest in understanding business operations are therefore essential attributes for in-house counsel. This insight is critical when assessing risk, allowing us to apply a commercial mindset that differentiates between theoretical legal exposure and real-world business impact.

Equally important is strong and transparent communication with business stakeholders. Building trust requires demonstrating a shared commitment to the company’s objectives, while maintaining professional independence and sound judgment. The modern in-house counsel must be able to support commercial decision-making, challenge when necessary, and consistently uphold the company’s values and regulatory obligations.

Ultimately, the role requires balancing commercial ambition with legal and ethical responsibility, enabling the business to move forward confidently and compliantly.
