Career Biography

I am currently the General Counsel of Nestlé in Iberia, Member of the Management Committee of Nestlé Spain and Nestlé Portugal, and Compliance Manager for the last 14 years.

I am also Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of Nestlé Spain and member of the Board of Directors of Nestlé Portugal.

My main role is to be a guardian of the law and of the corporate business principles of the Nestlé Group in Spain and Portugal, managing legal risk and creating a culture of doing the right thing. I am committed to ensuring that our legal team is optimally organised to enable Nestlé’s strategy and protect our people, assets and reputation, while achieving our vision to be a world class connected legal team of trusted, valued and innovative legal business partners.

Leading an Iberian team of 10 lawyers and 3 paralegals in both countries, organised by expertise in the areas of Corporate and M&A, Antitrust, Compliance, IP, Public and Food Law, Data Privacy, Sustainability and Labour Law, and providing services to the Nestlé businesses (Coffee, Petfood, Waters, Nutrition, Professional, Health Science, Food, Dairy, Nespresso, Confectionery, Cereals).

Our team and the food industry are currently facing many legal challenges.

One of the most significant and serious is connected with regulation, namely very strict local, national and EU regulation related to sustainability and recycling, which is currently enforcing a new paradigm for the industry in a very short period. Plastics and single use products are currently highly controlled, and very ambitious mandatory targets are being established in areas such as recycling, compostable materials and emissions.

Another priority for our legal team is implementing a strong compliance programme. Food law and food safety are the bread and butter of our industry. We are responsible for 12 Iberian factories, working for an FMCG leader in many categories, with direct-to-consumer businesses such as Nespresso or NDG, working with the retail world but also with hospitals, pharmacies, veterinary clinics, pet clinics, hotels, bars and restaurants, and fast-food organised chains.

Finally, I would like to highlight our digital and e commerce challenges and journey. As a food company, Nestlé has become a data driven tech enabled organisation. In Barcelona, we have an organisation providing international digital services to the Nestlé Group with hundreds of people. Nestlé Spain uses all e commerce models from direct-to-consumer platforms to pure players, with significantly different business models in terms of data privacy, antitrust and commercial law.

In 2023, the Nestlé Spain legal department was appointed Best Legal Department in Spain by Leaders League.
