Career biography

Ms. Mercedes Benítez del Castillo Sánchez is graduated with a Bachelor`s degree in law
and Master in Community law from CEU San Pablo University of Madrid (1987-1992)
She concluded her academic education by getting a Postgraduate Degree (MBA) in
Economy and Business Administration from IESE Business School, Graduate Center of
Universiy of Navarra (1992-1994).

She began her professional career in 1994 in marketing at OTC división in “Cusí
Laboratories”. In 1996 she joined the pharmaceutical company “Sanofi Synthelabo”,
where she held various responsibility positions, including her appointment as Marketing
Director of OTC division. In 2002 she joined the pharmaceutical company “Laboratorios
Farmacéuticos Rovi SA” (ROVI), as member of Business Development and after that as
Head of International Department, which allowed her to participate in the development
and execution of business strategies for various Rovi products internationally.

Since her appointment as Legal Director of ROVI in 2007, she has participated in the
main company projects, including Rovi´s IPO, the acquisition of the oral forms
manufacturing plant located in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) and the injectables filling
plants located in San Sebastián de los Reyes (Madrid) and recently in Phoenix (Arizona).
She has also led the legal aspects and negotiations of important strategic alliances for
Rovi such as manufacturing activities agreements for Covid-19 vaccine.

Regarding to her academic activities, Ms. Benítez del Castillo collaborates with
University Carlos III in the Master’s Degree in Corporate Legal Counsel and Diploma of
Expert in Corporate Law and Legal Risk Company Control. She also participates in
different current events and forums and is a member of the jury of awards of recognized
legal prestige.
She is also a member of the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM). She has great competence
in English and French.
