Vice president legal | Diamond Foundry
What are the most significant cases, projects and/or transactions that you and/or your legal team have recently been involved in?
As Head of Legal at Diamond Foundry, an innovative San Francisco, California based technology company that produces lab grown diamonds, Rebeca has been a key figure in the development of the Company’s first European manufacturing plant in Trujillo, Spain, which involved government relations, investment structuring and regulatory structuring in a €600 m. industrial project.
Recently, Rebeca led Diamond Foundry in a joint venture with the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), including the establishment of a manufacturing plant for high performance lab grown diamond components for chips and single crystal diamond wafers in Zaragoza, in addition to expanding the Trujillo lab diamond growth facilities. This expansion consolidates Diamond Foundry’s project, strengthening the design and production capabilities of the microelectronics and semiconductor industry in Spain. The project is estimated to generate around 500 direct jobs and more than 1,600 indirect jobs, with an estimated contribution of €2.15 billion to Spain’s GDP in the first ten years. The project, authorised by the Spanish Government, involves a total estimated investment of €2.35 b. until 2029.
Diamond Foundry’s Spain project is expected to position Spain as the world’s largest centre for diamond substrates for semiconductors, heralding a significant shift in the industry through the use of lab grown diamonds as substrates for high performance components for chips.
In her current role, Rebeca also serves as Corporate Secretary and manages global legal matters including corporate, commercial, compliance, IP and global expansion.
