Are there any particular challenges for which in-house counsel should be preparing in 2026?

One of the greatest challenges will be the integration of artificial intelligence into legal practice. AI is no longer a distant concept; it is already reshaping how legal teams operate, from contract review to regulatory monitoring. The challenge for in-house counsel will be to keep pace with these technological advances and learn to use them to their advantage, rather than resisting them.

This means developing a dual skillset: on one hand, understanding the legal implications of AI adoption, and on the other, acquiring enough technological literacy to evaluate and implement these tools effectively. Counsel must also anticipate new regulatory frameworks around AI, ensuring that their organisations remain compliant while still benefiting from the efficiencies AI can deliver.

Have you had any experiences during your career as a lawyer that stand out as particularly unique or interesting?

One experience that stands out vividly is my role during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to my participation and leadership, our company became the first shopping mall in the country to reopen after lockdowns. This was achieved by designing and implementing rigorous health and safety protocols that met the highest standards of efficiency and compliance.

It was a moment that tested not only my legal expertise but also my ability to innovate under pressure, coordinate with public authorities, and reassure both employees and customers. The reopening was more than a business milestone – it was a demonstration of how legal counsel can play a decisive role in crisis management.
