What are the key projects that you have been involved in over the past twelve months?

Over the last year, we have focused on strengthening our capabilities by bringing together technology, efficiency and integrity. We have introduced AI for proactive legal risk analysis and the automation of complex contract review. This has gone hand in hand with streamlining our contract management processes to mitigate risks in our construction projects, from the bidding stage through to completion. At the same time, we have begun implementing our Anti-Bribery Management System, ensuring our standards are fully aligned with those of our parent company, SalfaCorp.

Are there any particular challenges for which in-house counsel should be preparing in 2026?

For 2026, the greatest challenge for a General Counsel in Peru is leading business continuity within an environment of political and legal instability, exacerbated by the uncertainty inherent in an election year. We must prepare ourselves to manage increased conflict and a potential rise in contractual disputes, which demands strong analytical skills for decision-making under conditions of incomplete or shifting information. The challenge lies not just in reacting, but in anticipating risk scenarios through agile legal structures that allow the organisation to operate with stability in volatile environments.

How can general counsel foster a corporate culture that supports ESG principles and compliance across all levels of the organisation?

Fostering a corporate culture of ESG and compliance requires the General Counsel to go beyond a purely legal role. We must transform compliance into a deep institutional conviction — in our case, supported by the legacy of SalfaCorp, with its more than 96-year history, and our own 75-year track record in the Peruvian market. We must lead our teams not only to understand and apply these principles, but to act as key ambassadors of ethics at every level of the organisation.

We must demonstrate that ESG criteria are not simply requirements to avoid sanctions, but pillars of sustainability and competitiveness. By integrating these standards into our DNA, we ensure that every employee understands that integrity is the standard of excellence that has enabled us to thrive for 75 years and is the foundation of our leadership for the decades to come.
