<strong> Career Biography </strong>  

Sarah Dickson is company secretary and general counsel of Greggs, having joined the business in December 2024. She brings extensive experience leading legal, governance and compliance functions across large, complex consumerfacing organisations. A strong advocate of “commonsense compliance”, Dickson plays a key role in enhancing Greggs already well-established approach to responsible business and brand protection. 

  

This includes championing Greggs customer-first commitment to robust governance and risk frameworks that place allergen safety at the centre of its operations, alongside strengthening constructive relationships with organisations such as the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation to support industrywide progress on allergen awareness and consumer education.  She acts as the executive lead for The Greggs Pledge, ensuring the plc’s ESG strategy is governed, delivered and embedded effectively across the business. 

Dickson has spent most of her career in retail and manufacturing environments. Prior to joining Greggs, she spent almost five years at Marks & Spencer plc, serving as Deputy General Counsel and Data Protection Officer. In this role, she advised on a wide range of strategic, regulatory and commercial matters, with specialist expertise in data protection, governance and enterprise risk management. 

She began her career at DLA Piper as a corporate lawyer before taking on senior leadership roles at Asda and at International Procurement and Logistics (IPL). These included Senior Director positions covering regulatory compliance, competition law, consumer protection and product safety, as well as serving as General Counsel and Company Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer. Her experience spans UK and international operations and highly regulated consumer supply chains. 

Dickson is a qualified lawyer and a Chartered Governance Institutequalified Company Secretary. She has also served as a nonexecutive director of The College of Legal Practice.
