Career Biography

Maciej Rutecki is an advocate (Warsaw Bar) and General Counsel of the Agro Business Unit at QEMETICA Group, an international chemical and agricultural solutions group operating across Europe and beyond. With over ten years of professional experience, including five years as general counsel, he is responsible for all legal and regulatory matters supporting the Group’s plant protection products business across Poland, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and Australia.

In his current role, Maciej provides comprehensive legal oversight of commercial activities related to the manufacturing, marketing, distribution and cross-border trade of plant protection products in multiple jurisdictions. He advises senior management on regulatory compliance, contractual risk allocation and market-entry considerations in a sector shaped by EU plant protection product legislation, national registration regimes and complex international supply chains.

A core focus of his practice is the drafting, negotiation and execution of high-value and high-complexity commercial agreements essential to the Agro Business Unit’s operations. These include supply and distribution agreements, toll manufacturing arrangements, sales and purchase contracts, data-sharing frameworks and joint development projects. He regularly leads negotiations with strategic partners and counterparties across different jurisdictions, balancing regulatory constraints with commercial objectives and ensuring enforceable, risk-aware contractual structures.

Maciej plays a central coordinating role in cross-border commercial projects, aligning legal positions across multiple markets and working closely with commercial, regulatory and operational stakeholders to secure legally robust and commercially viable outcomes. His experience spans transactions and long-term strategic partnerships that underpin international expansion and operational continuity.

He also oversees dispute strategy and risk assessment in complex commercial matters, coordinating external counsel in Poland and other European jurisdictions where necessary. His approach integrates technical legal analysis with practical business judgment, enabling the Business Unit to operate effectively in demanding and diverse regulatory environments.

Before joining QEMETICA, Maciej practiced in leading Warsaw law firms, advising on corporate restructurings, cross-border mergers and major international transactions. This transactional background complements his regulatory and commercial expertise in the agrochemical sector.

Maciej combines precision in legal drafting and negotiation with a strong commercial mindset. His work has supported the Agro Business Unit’s continued international growth and reinforced its ability to manage contractual, regulatory and operational risks across multiple markets.
