Macarena Bahamonde V.
Corporate manager of legal affairs | Vitapro
What are the most significant cases, projects and/or transactions that you and/or your legal team have recently been involved in?
A key focus of my role has been supporting the business through legal structures that provide certainty and predictability in our commercial relationships. This includes reviewing, negotiating and standardising contractual frameworks with key clients and suppliers to align long-term commercial strategy with risk management and compliance, ultimately strengthening business planning and execution. Long-term contract-based commercial relationships are exceptional in our industry, and therefore finding the right way to structure new contractual frameworks that comply all parties’ requests has been challenging but very rewarding for the company.
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
Our team’s approach is grounded in research, prioritisation and clear alignment with the business’s most critical objectives. The first step is to thoroughly understand the context by assessing regulatory developments, contractual exposure and operational risks.
Based on this analysis, we work with the business to define priorities, focusing legal resources on matters that have the greatest potential impact on continuity, compliance and value preservation. Clear communication and practical guidance are essential, ensuring that decision-makers understand risks and options without creating unnecessary complexity.
What is a cause, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about? Why is this?
I am particularly passionate about the role companies can play in working with the public sector to improve the conditions in which children in local communities grow and develop. I strongly believe that supporting local programs – especially those focused on education from early stages – can have a meaningful and lasting impact on children’s future opportunities.
When companies engage responsibly with public institutions and community initiatives, they can help strengthen access to education, promote early development and contribute to more equitable long-term outcomes. This not only benefits communities but also supports sustainable development and social progress in the environments where businesses operate. As part of Vitapro, we are closely working with local communities to promote sustainable development projects where we operate.
