Career Biography

Ignacio Mena is a corporate lawyer with more than twelve years of experience leading legal and compliance functions across multinational organizations in Ecuador. His career spans strategic legal management, regulatory compliance, M&A, commercial contracting, corporate governance, labor law, and antitrust, with a proven track record of enabling business growth, operational continuity, and risk mitigation across complex, multi‑country environments. Fluent in English and Spanish, with intermediate French, he combines technical legal expertise with strong business acumen and international negotiation skills.

Currently, Ignacio serves as Regional Legal & Compliance Officer at Synlab International, overseeing operations in Ecuador, Peru, and Chile. In this role, he leads the legal departments across the region, ensuring alignment of corporate strategies with local regulatory frameworks and designing legal structures that safeguard business continuity across labor, corporate, antitrust, civil, and sector‑specific matters.

Previously, Ignacio was Legal Manager at Holding Tonicorp, where he led legal affairs for business units in dairy production, distribution, and plastic packaging manufacturing. He oversaw the in‑house legal team, led negotiations of strategic agreements with major suppliers and customers, and supported high‑impact operational and transactional initiatives.

Ignacio holds a law degree from Universidad de Las Américas (Ecuador), homologated in Spain, as well as two master’s degrees from the University of Seville—in Law and in Private & Corporate Law. He also completed a postgraduate specialization as an Antitrust Expert at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
