Ms Pratibha Jain is the Head of Strategy and Group General Counsel at Everstone Group. Everstone Group is one of Asia’s premier investment groups, with assets of approximately US$8 billion across private equity, real estate, credit, climate impact, and venture capital. She is an alumna of Harvard Law School, Oxford University, and Delhi University. She brings with her a breadth of international and Indian experience, having worked with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong; with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Hong Kong; and with Goldman Sachs in Mumbai.
She has worked on some of the most challenging projects in the financial services and regulatory sector globally and in India, including the setting up of India’s largest climate impact fund sponsored by the Government of India and the UK Government through the FCDO; representing the Ministry of Finance for the structuring of India’s first $USD6 billion quasi-sovereign wealth fund (National Investment and Infrastructure Fund, NIIF); and designing the $USD1.3 billion special window for funding stalled affordable and middle-income housing projects as an AIF fund, as well as creating India’s first SME exchange.
She serves as a jury member for the Business World and Forbes Legal Powerlist Awards. She enjoys working and writing on public policy issues and is regularly quoted in the news on a variety of public policy matters. She is a Fellow of the Seventh Generation Class of Ananta Aspen’s Kamalnayan Bajaj Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. She received the ‘Woman Lawyer of the Year Award 2019’ from Business World magazine. She has been recognised as a Top Individual Lawyer by the Forbes Legal Powerlist 2020 and received the General Counsel Award at the Forbes Legal Powerlist 2022.
She is also the founding trustee of the We4Her Foundation, which works on gender justice and gender equality. We4Her has undertaken programmes such as primary research on gender-specific criteria for public infrastructure; research on the causes of gender-based violence in public spaces; initiatives supporting the safety of the girl child through the prevention of child marriages; and financial literacy programmes for women.
