Ruhi is senior vice president and general counsel heading the legal function of the India business at Brookfield Properties. In this role, she is responsible for providing strategic legal advice in relation to corporate structuring, acquisitions, fundraising and all other legal and compliance activities for Brookfield India Real Estate Trust, a SEBI registered trust and the private assets owned by Brookfield Properties in India.

In the listed space, Ruhi works on fund raising from institutional investors, acquistion of Grade A office assets by a REIT and ongoing securities law compliances. As a member of the Regulatory Committee of the Indian REITs Association, she is also involved in making various representations to the securities regulator on REIT related Regulations.

Additionally, Ruhi is involved in all strategic decision making for Brookfield Properties in India, advising on all legal aspects of managing a business ranging from corporate structuring, acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing, litigation and employment matters. She leads a team of over 30 people at Brookfield Properties

Prior to joining Brookfield Properties in November 2020, Ruhi worked as legal counsel for the investment team at Brookfield, India and on M&A and financing deals at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, a leading law firm in India.

Ruhi is an alumni of Shri Ram College of Commerce and holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Delhi and a Bachelor in Civil Law from the University of Oxford.
